FALLING...in love.

Love is an addiction, an obsession, a chemical reaction involving dopamine and oxytocin. It’s a cure, it’s sweet, and it’s complicated. For something that holds so much power and meaning to us all, it’s only right for it not to be subjected to one simple definition. When I think about love, I always think about a scene from the Disney movie, Hercules. After Hercules had risked his life to save Megan’s, she asked him “why did you do that?” He responded with “people do crazy things when they’re in love.”

I’ve heard gratitude is stronger than love, but I think they go hand in hand. When you think of someone you’re in love with and I mean real love, compassionate love, you’re grateful towards that person and every little thing they do. When you’re with that special someone, your heart beats out of your chest, you get sweaty, you turn red if you can. No, you’re not having an anxiety attack. Rather, your mind is starting to ensnare you into limerence, or an involuntary state of intense romantic desire. You can't fight it. All you can is try to hide it.

Although love can be awe-inspiring, it can also be dicey as well. Even an aristophren or a bel-esprit can succumb to the woes of love. Love’s pain is unfathomable. It can drive one to the brink of their very own existence. Nonetheless, when you head the danger and know the love is true, falling becomes all the more majestic and graceful. Then, you’re embraced by the warmth and this feeling that is unequivocally the most intense, passionate feeling you’ve ever felt in your life. Words are not sufficient to describe the sensation.

Fall in love and fall hard. Watch as everything else becomes inaudible background noise, while you dance to your lover's tune.
