- I AM NOT A TARGET.
Usually, VEDOME does an article to explain the story behind the design. However, due to the ongoing tragedies, there is no need for an explanation. Our only message is to find ways to make a difference and fight racial injustices. - Temporary Savior
Temporary savior please make me numb. Make my days’ worth it under the sun. Bring your laughs and bring your fun because, once indulged, there’ll be more to come. Open my mind and close my eyes. Peel my layers and tell me lies. Spread your joy throughout my veins. Use your magic to ease my pains. Embed yourself within my brain. An addict I am not, but from you I cannot refrain. You make me feel alive, an extrovert I will be. With you by my side, my dreams I exceed. With you by my side, no friend I will need. When you are in hand, you elicit the real me. Bring me fun don’t bring me shame. Temporary savior engulf me with joy not flames. I know you are malicious, but I ignore your ploy. Bring me peace and turn down the noise. Temporary savior please don’t cause me pain. Taking you is a better way than piercing my brain. Temporary savior you know your name. Change my life and I’ll never be the same. Popular amongst us all, your lies you spread. Took you once, now you’re in my head. Days without you are days of dread. Give me life, if I don’t wound up dead. Temporary savior I’m blacking out. My alacrity grows faint there’s no turning back now. Through my blood your poison sprouts. That of consciousness, I’m fading out. Temporary savior bring me peace. Ease the minds of the ones that’ll mourn for me. Open their eyes so they can truly see that what you did was so wrong for me. I lied to their faces. I told them I’d stop. They flipped through my pages and figured your plot. They witnessed the changes, when I was beginning to rot. Unsubtly exchanges, I got that a lot. No, I’m not addicted. I just need you, you see. Temporary savior you have enlighten me. Took me on a journey to where I’ve never been before. I no longer feel alienated, that’s why I need you more and more. You’ve made cool, you’ve made me fun, but you’ve limited my days under the magnificent sun. My body grows weak, what have you done to me? Temporary savior please let me be. I seek out my friends, but they run from me. I’m alone once again, I need company. A monstrosity in my reflection, what’s become of me? Temporary please come to me. I need you one last time so I can rest comfortably. Please listen carefully, I’m about to say my final speech. I don’t have my much time I can hardly breathe. These words are precious, it’s getting harder for me. Temporary savior you vulturous beast. You have taken my life from me. Temporary savior I curse thy. I hope this opens the eyes of all those who were dear to me. You are not a friend, you are a foe. If only I had known sooner, I would’ve let you go. - THE SUN STILL SHINES BRIGHT ON DARK DAYS.
Young black boy walking down the street. Best thing he owned were the Nikes on his feet, the clothes on his back, that smile with his teeth, living in the world where skin color is deceit. A cop rolled up and so he started to kick it. Big bro told him that’s life and how he should live it, but big bro locked up doing 25 to life. Daddy left home and mommas on the pipe. So, now he's just a young black boy who may never see the light, even on this day where the sun shines bright. As the story goes on the boy is still running. The cop gets fed up so, he decided to gun him. Pop pop! Two shots in the back, that's a man down. The cop had to finish him off so, he put one in his crown. Why'd the cop do it? Especially when the boy was down? Was his life threaten by the boy who now lies on the grown? What becomes of this cop who was cruising on the so-called bad side of town? Does he get a raise, a medal, a reward for gunning another black man down? It is one less hustler, gangster, robber, or what the black boy was presumed to be off the streets. Or maybe it was his duty to fill this town with more of the hate that already lingered around. The day is filled darkness, but the sun still shines bright. Now neighbors’, friends, and families all see the light. The boy had nothing on him, but the lies in his head, the fright in his heart, and the target on his back. When will the world see he suffered prejudiced just because he was black. Why do we think spreading the word is whack? Is it because you're not treated like that? Imagine living in a world with a pistol to your back and as soon as you make a move the wielder starts to attack. Imagine you knew that boy with the bullets in his back. Imagine if that was your best friend coming to see you that bright summers day just so y’all can play and relax. Rest in peace young black boy you've served your purpose. To show that hope in humanity is lost and laws are worthless. Our people fought for what it seems like we fight against today. Give a gun to a man and he'll show his true face. Pin a badge on that man and he gets away with murder. So, who's to say it's safe because the ones who are supposed to be protecting are the ones who are killing our sons and daughters. We can only get through by the grace of God and if you don’t believe you can still seek a higher cause. Don't turn the other cheek, don't sit in defeat, listen to the words I speak because the things I seek can still be reached. If we all come together peace, love, happiness, and unity is what we'll teach. Thank you. #BHM #poem #Vedome
