  • A Love Letter From Vedome

The Future is Ours, Not Yours. -Sincerely Vedome As I sit and think, what does “Not Yours” mean and how can I merge that with “The Future is Ours,” I get flustered. Two totally different designs at two totally different times in my life, but something keeps telling me to merge them together. How do they connect? How can I say the future is ours and say not yours at the same time? What the heck am I even thinking? I could talk about how we all, as individuals, have our own futures. I could talk about how there’s always going to be circumstances that deter your alacrity to pursue our dreams. How mistakes will be made, how love will be lost, and how bridges will be burned. I could make an analogy comparing how a potter molding their clay, is like you molding your future. How it takes time, patience, and perseverance. Your future slips away the second you stop trying to mold it. Finally, I could conclude all that with how even though we all have our individual futures, not one of us can own the future individually. Therefore making the future not yours, but ours. But no, to simply put it… The Future is Ours, Not Yours, is a love letter from Vedome with a message as clear as day. Now is our time… BECOME AWARE.

  • MELANCHOLIA

Some may see MELANCHOLIA as cataclysmal, apocalyptic, and an absolute obliteration, but as we always say here at VEDOME, TAKE A CLOSER LOOK… The Collision: The MELANCHOLIA design symbolizes two worlds becoming one. It stands for unison, amalgamation, and the emergence of a new. Although, on the surface it conveys chaos and destruction, beyond the rubble and havoc there lies pulchritude and neonatal beginnings. My thought process while creating MELANCHOLIA was distraught and in disarray. My inspiration derived from Lars Von Trier’s cinematic masterpiece, Melancholia, and a mathematical simulation of what it would be like if two planets crashed into each other. I saw a different meaning than what both of my inspirations depicted. Where there was destruction, I saw reparation. Where there was annihilation, I saw creation. When it seemed to be the end, I saw a new beginning. The perspective: Just as the planets collide, so do we humans. We are our own worlds. When we collide with one another, it is awe striking. It is a vicious cycle of ardent emotions ranging from infatuation to detestation. Our collision, at first glance, can seem disheveled, but once the storm settles, into the serenity, bares the fruit of a new beginning. Now we are living in an era where we have been apart for so long. It seems, with a desperate urgency, it’s time we all started to collide again. No matter how chaotic of a collision, always remember, THERE’S BEAUTY WITHIN THE CHAOS.

  • BLOOM

"Did you hear about the flower that grew from the ashes? Many were shocked by the way it bloomed. Against all odds, it flourished and lit up mother nature’s room. It secured its roots and burgeoned, where many thought was a desolate place. In the darkest of times it stood unflinching and looked darkness in its menacing face. Continue to BLOOM beautiful flower. Allow yourself to grow. Steadfast may you continue to be and so shall the seeds you sow." -V. The inspiration for this design derived From Azuma Makoto and Tupac Shakur. The mind boggling experiments that Azuma does with botanical life such as flowers is astounding. He and his team pushes the boundaries of art and science. Since 2014, with the Exhibition of Exobiotanica, I’ve been AWARE of Azumas work. So unique, unusual, and unprecedented. As for Tupac, well have you heard of “The Rose That Grew From Concrete?” While brief, the poem spoke to me in so many ways. We should all see ourselves as the flower that grew against all odds. During difficult times, filled with doubt and disarray, the main goal should be to stay hopeful and resilient. Going through the obstacles of life with no obvious solution, your alacrity can grow faint. One thing we should always remember during such times/moments in our lives, being the blossoming flowers that we are, is that... where there’s light, you can BLOOM.

  • WHAT IN THE WORLD IS VEDOME?

What is VEDOME? Vedome is more than just a brand- it's a message. It’s words of empowerment. It’s hope in humanity. The name itself is Czechoslovakian for "knowingly." When anyone sees the logo, we hope that it serves as a reminder to “become aware.” Are you aware of what’s going on in the world? Are you aware of your surroundings? Are you aware that your reality differs from the world's reality? What you see outside your front door is not what the next person sees. By being aware, it is your responsibility as a human being, to act on the indiscretions this world poses. If you’re aware that suicide rates are going up in your community, it’s your responsibility to act on it. If you’re aware that bullying is becoming over bearing in your community, it’s your responsibility to act on it. If you’re aware that rape is reoccurring in your community, it’s your responsibility to act on it. If you’re aware that poverty is raising in your community, it’s your responsibility to act on it. One small step in the right direction from everyone will lead us to a more uplifting world that we can all can be proud of. These are just a few things VEDOME wants you to be aware of. It is our responsibility as human beings living on this planet earth to make it a better place because if we don’t, who will? Who are we waiting for to save us from ourselves? Now, what does that have to do with clothes? Well think about it this way, everyone wears clothes. Every brand has their logo or slogan that people see on their clothes. When you wear clothes, you are promoting that brand and showcasing it to the world. You look good in it, it feels good on you, but we believe that there is still something missing. It’s not urging anyone to make a difference. It’s not calling for change. For example, when you see a brand logo like Chanel, does that urge you to go out and make a difference in your community? Is Chanel delivering a message that reminds you to become aware of your surrounds and act on it? Don’t get me wrong, I love Chanel and the execution of creativity by Karl Lagerfeld, but the brand isn’t screaming make a change in the world. That is what VEDOME wants to execute. When you wear our brand, you are accepting the fact that you’re responsible for the change this world's needs, and you will do your part to the best of your abilities. We want you to express yourself and stand out in the crowd even if it means getting out of your comfort zone to do so. We want the people surrounding you to see the message you’re portraying and take it upon themselves to make a difference. Then and only then will we be able to change this world for the better. #blog #information #help

  • Illuminate the Darkness

In our minds, at times, things may seem dark. Dark thoughts, dark feelings, just dark. We do not know who to turn to for help, or maybe we do not want to burden others with our problems. So, we buckle down and search deep within ourselves for a solution. We will frantically search and search for answers, but to no avail. Reason being is that it is hard to see things clearly with no light. When every corner of your mind is plagued by darkness, it is hard to find a competent solution to incomprehensible misfortune. Seeking something you can’t see is like walking with your eyes closed, you don’t have any sense direction. Without direction, who can tell when you will ever reach your destination? Sometimes we welcome the darkness because it hides the monsters we hide. After all, what we can’t see isn’t really there, right? Wrong, ignorance is not bliss, it is misery. Being unaware isn’t happiness. Just because you don’t know doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be held responsible. At some point in time all of our vices will one day catch up to us. If you spend your whole life keeping them in the darkness, when they do come out and they will, you will not be prepared to face them. Thus, putting an end to your ignorantly blissful happiness, which is always temporary. Unless you seek true happiness, meaningful happiness, then the darkness will always find its way back to you. It would be as if you are living in a never-ending paradox. By illuminating the darkness, you are opening your eyes to the monsters in the closet and facing them in the present so they do not control your future. Illuminating the Darkness means you have taken it upon yourself to be the light in dark places. Once you have achieved that within yourself, then you can be a beacon for someone else. Now you are doing even more than you expected and making the world a better place effortlessly. Taking illuminating the darkness a small step further, after becoming your own light and possibly a beacon for someone who is not a strong as you, shine light on topics that are passionate to you. Especially topics that are easily ignored and discarded because their importance pertains to change rather than profit. Also, shine light on topics people rather be ignorant because they are driven by fear to act or muted by burdening to speak up. Then and only then can we make the world a better place. By being a part of Vedome, it is your responsibility to make the world a better place. #blog #PSA #Vedome

  • LIFE, LIVE IT.

There’s no need for metaphors, philosophical references, or use of a thesaurus to make this explanation complex and intellectually ultracompetent. This design is plain and simple, LIFE, LIVE IT. Just live your life. Through the good, the bad, the happy, and the sad, live your life. Don’t be afraid to live either. When things aren’t going well, change that. Don’t get flustered and panic. You can’t control everything. Some things are just inevitable. Everything happens for a reason. When you’re in the dark part of your mind remember, you are never alone. Even if it feels that way. YOU ARE NEVER ALONE. Don’t be afraid to be you and DO you. Try something new. You know that person you’ve been eyeing for a while now? Yeah that person? Talk to them. Walk up to a stranger and introduce yourself. Be courageous. When you get butterflies, do the exact opposite of what you would normally do in that situation. Fall in love. Fall out of love. Live unapologetically. It’s okay to put yourself first sometimes. It’s not selfish nor inconsiderate to prioritize your well-being. Think about it this way, if you can’t make yourself happy, and care about your well-being, you cannot and will not, regardless of your valiant efforts, genuinely be capable of doing the same for someone you care for. It’s time. In the words of Demetrius Harmon “you matter.” Be spontaneous. Go on that trip with your family, friends, or loved ones. We don’t have a lot of time on this earth. Have a good time while there’s still time. Just because you’re alive doesn’t mean you’re living...let that one sink in for a moment...Don’t be afraid to spend that money you don’t have, especially if it contributes to your well-being. Go out and buy that nice shirt you think you can’t afford, but just have to have. Not to be cliché or redundant, but we only have one life to live so, why not live it? Forget what people think about you. They are always going to be on the outside looking in, remember that. There is always going to be someone that does not and cannot understand you, agree with you, or approve of your actions, always. That’s the beauty it. We have to figure out how to live our lives while coexisting with others who are trying to do the same. Thus, why I encourage you to meet your opposites, indulge in their lifestyle, culture, ideas...compromise. The only one that knows you, is you. So, do what makes you happy even if it means you’re the outcast. Be different. This world is not an Orwellian dystopia. There’s not two people in this world that are the exact same. Be unique. Be comfortable in your own skin. If you don’t like something about yourself, change it. But also learn to accept and love your flaws. Those are the characteristics that make you, you. Embrace them. You only got one life so, live it. #life #live #it #new #inf #Vedome

  • THE DIVINE

In several traditions, the spider symbolizes the Mother and the Divine Feminine. In Ancient Egypt, particularly, the spider represented the goddess of the Divine Mother, Neith. In some American Indian tribes, the spider symbolizes the creator of the world, and therefore, is held in high regard for its feminine energy. In this day and age, the spider still fascinates some, but also revolts others as well. The Divine design is a representation of all interpretations of the spider. Whether it’s being a symbol of a greater purpose or being judged by how it looks on the outside with adjectives such as scary, disgusting, and monstrous. The spider’s purpose, no matter which interpretation or adjective you believe is accurate or not, is to be greater than what it appears to be. The whole concept reminds me of the saying “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” Some might be more than willing to agree with any negative connotations of the spider. Others might disagree and rebut that the spider is one of the most beautiful creatures in the world due to its ancient accolades. No matter what side of the spectrum you fall on, the most important message to take away from the spider and this design, is that no matter what you look like or how you’re perceived, you’re always going to be destined for something much greater. You may not see the bigger picture vividly, but as time progresses, the image will become clearer. When you’re destined for great things, those around you want to tarnish your name, ruin your image, and lead you away from your path. Don’t let them. Stay focused on what you want to achieve. If you truly believe that you’re meant to be more than what you are currently or what people have written you off as then, stand firm. Believing in yourself is one thing but believing in something bigger than yourself can take you a lot further. Let’s face it, we as humans are flawed, insecure, and overcritical of ourselves. Thus, when we believe in something bigger than us, habitually, we strive to be better just for the sake of what we believe in. I believe the old saying by Alexander Hamilton says, “if you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.” So, stand for whatever higher power elicits you to be a better person. Stand for what you believe in! Stand by what you feel like you’re destined to be. Believe in yourself. BE THE SPIDER. #Vedome #Divine #new #information

  • MAY OUR TEARS EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES

It seems like we live in a world where everything always seems to be talked about. We talk a lot. Words are great and all, but they are only temporary. Their wavelengths fade within seconds and soon after are forgotten by the ones who weren’t listening in the first place. Actions, now actions are what holds strong and true. Everyone can talk about changing the world for the better for generations and generations to come. Is that ever going to change anything though? We complain, brood, and stress about the things we don’t agree with, but when it comes to taking action, we rather just wait for another person to do it. Maybe we are too busy getting worked up about the situation initially to take action against it? Whatever the case may be there has to be a shift in the winds when it comes to instances such as this. Especially, in this day and age where the people who are taking actions are doing it for the completely wrong reasons. Those of us who are morally sound and choose to uphold the bare minimum of human decency have to start being more proactive in our communities. We sit and watch the news and say, “oh that’s tragic when is that going to change?” Well, news flash WE ARE THE CHANGE. You may feel like "just you" isn’t enough, but "just you" is a start. Someone has to start the movement and we all have to continue it. We shouldn’t just follow it because it’s the latest trend or because its current events. If you truly want to make a difference you have to commit your time, efforts, and resources into making that difference happen and lasting.Think about this, you’re waiting for someone to evoke change so, what makes you think that same someone isn’t waiting on you to evoke change as well. Now, we are all sitting around waiting on each other while the world around us is ablaze. This design is a satirical approach to how this new era of human beings behave. Our tears won’t conjure compromises, bring bliss, or even advocate alliances. The only thing that comes from our tears is sympathy and when has sympathy ever solved anything indefinitely? From the weary eyes of someone who is fed up with what is seen on the television or written in articles, the conclusion has been drawn that this generation is delicate, in the subtlest of terms. Let’s go back to the time where people fought for change. Not violently, but with action, peaceful protests, and unity. Apart we are weak, like mice our voices are only a mere squeak. Together we are strong. The wavelengths of our voices can crumble mountains. We have to unite and act, but until then…OUR TEARS WILL NOT EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES. #Tears #Vedome #information #new

  • ELECTRIFY YOUR MIND

“Electrify Your Mind” is about shedding light on the dark side of your mind. Stimulate your mind when things seem dark by trying something new. Instead of conforming to what is normal and living repetitively, try doing something you wouldn’t see yourself doing. Some of us are creatures of habits, while others just don’t think it’s worth doing something out of the ordinary. You never know what new passions you may stumble upon in your endeavor of self-indulgence. Let your creative mind run amuck. Stop trying to suppress things that make you happy just because they don’t hold monetary value. If you are passionate about something and consistent with it, who knows, maybe someday your passion will turn into dollars. Nonetheless, suppressing your creative thought engine is one of the many ways you take away from who you actually are. Then, that trickles down into who you become as a person. The odds are it’s never who you truly want to be. It’s a crippling effect of how we put ourselves in the position to be miserable. Then, when we realize how miserable we actually are, we over exuberate our efforts to get out of the hole we had initially dug ourselves in. Don’t get to that point in your life. When your mind seems dark and it’s hard to find your way, ELECTRIFY YOUR MIND. When you need a new, fresh, and original idea, ELECTRIFY YOUR MIND. When life seems dull and it yearns for excitement, ELECTRIFY YOUR MIND. Be comfortable with letting yourself burn bridges that only lead to destruction, misery, and self-doubt. The flames from those bridges will shed light on new life lessons that are crucial to your well-being. Don’t be afraid to speak your mind. If your mind runs rampant 24/7, so be it. Conjure words from your rapids of thoughts, let them out, and transform your rapids into a steady stream. Invest in your ideas. Bring them to fruition. Don’t let self-doubt stop you. The only person that can stop you is you. The excuses, the procrastination, the “what ifs,” stop all that. Instead of asking yourself “why,” try asking yourself “why not?” The mind is a beautiful yet fickle creation. Explore it. Challenge it, Use it. ELECTRIFY YOUR MIND. #new #information #electrify #your #mind #Vedome

  • VEDOME CARES.

Art, in the simplest form, can have the most powerful meanings. Whereas the most complex art can mean absolutely nothing. Nonetheless, art is art. If the artist is achieving at least one of the six responsibilities an artist has, then their work’s art. Maybe it will not be to you. Maybe it will. The fact of the matter is you have to change your perspective to begin to comprehend what is and what is not. That goes far beyond just art. It has to deal with your surroundings, your community, and your world. Many times, we see things as black and white, right and wrong, day and night. When really, there is so much more that lies in between. We either do not want to take the time to evaluate and evolve or just simply do not know how to. We tend to be stuck in a paradoxical rut where one continuously neglects new ideas because they are not their own or because it does not make sense to them. It may even be that they do not like it. See, that is the beauty of the word “new.” It is supposed to be unprecedented. It is supposed to be unfamiliar. You are not supposed to be enthralled by what it portrays at first. You have to adapt, get a feel for it, and embrace it, and see it in a different light. Then, and only then, can you truly understand it. The idea of changing the world, one small step at a time, is not a new or unprecedented phenomenon. However, we talk about it profusely, while seldom ever acting. Some may feel like we have to go to the utmost lengths in order to achieve such a task. When in reality, it just takes a group of us to make one small change that leads to a big difference. That is why we at Vedome have decided to guide you on your imperative journey towards making that small change the world so desperately needs. We have made a hoodie that is stylish, comfortable, durable, and most of all ecofriendly in efforts to show you that ecofriendly does not have to come at the expense of the style or quality of your clothes. Our newest hoodies consist of polyester fiber made from recycled materials, including plastic bottles. Compared to virgin fiber, recycled poly uses less petroleum, emits fewer greenhouse gases and conserves water and energy, making a big difference for our future. Just by wearing this hoodie you are not only making a colossal change in the environment, you are also making others BECOME AWARE. You are taking initiative to indulge in the first steps to change, no matter how small this may seem. In our bustling lifestyles, we may not have time to go plant a tree, boycott the use of materials that are harmful to our wildlife, or even pick up litter from the streets. Just always remember, no matter how small the step is, if we all indulge in it together, the impact can be groundbreaking. #2020 #new #information #springsummer #PSA #Vedome #collection #blog #fashion #life

  • FALLING...in love.

Love is an addiction, an obsession, a chemical reaction involving dopamine and oxytocin. It’s a cure, it’s sweet, and it’s complicated. For something that holds so much power and meaning to us all, it’s only right for it not to be subjected to one simple definition. When I think about love, I always think about a scene from the Disney movie, Hercules. After Hercules had risked his life to save Megan’s, she asked him “why did you do that?” He responded with “people do crazy things when they’re in love.” I’ve heard gratitude is stronger than love, but I think they go hand in hand. When you think of someone you’re in love with and I mean real love, compassionate love, you’re grateful towards that person and every little thing they do. When you’re with that special someone, your heart beats out of your chest, you get sweaty, you turn red if you can. No, you’re not having an anxiety attack. Rather, your mind is starting to ensnare you into limerence, or an involuntary state of intense romantic desire. You can't fight it. All you can is try to hide it. Although love can be awe-inspiring, it can also be dicey as well. Even an aristophren or a bel-esprit can succumb to the woes of love. Love’s pain is unfathomable. It can drive one to the brink of their very own existence. Nonetheless, when you head the danger and know the love is true, falling becomes all the more majestic and graceful. Then, you’re embraced by the warmth and this feeling that is unequivocally the most intense, passionate feeling you’ve ever felt in your life. Words are not sufficient to describe the sensation. Fall in love and fall hard. Watch as everything else becomes inaudible background noise, while you dance to your lover's tune.

  • VEDOME VILLAIN

You may be wondering, what In the world am I looking at? You probably think it’s trash. You think you could replicate within a couple of seconds and call it a day. I urge you to take a closer look. For this design, I wanted it to be more personal than normal. More real. More me. I took my roughly drawn design (without beautifying it on the computer) and just ran with it. The design consists of various other designs that were scribbled over to make a “blank” canvas to start anew. The reason being, I wanted to show the erratic strokes of my pen on the page, like my mind wandered into the dark abyss of doubt. Doubt about whether or not I should speak my mind on what I feel passionate about, knowing my thoughts aren’t clear and others will judge me. Doubts about whether the designs I make serve a purpose by conveying Vedome’s main message. Doubts about the choices I make and if there’s ever a right or wrong choice. It’s always nerve-racking when one really sits and contemplates life, if one ever has the time. So much is revealed. All that we seem to ignore and compartmentalize lay bare at our feet, but still we try to step over them with thoughts of our to-do-list of the day. To step out of your comfort zone is such a tantalizing endeavor we seldom pursue, why? I think it’s because of our inability to not let what others perceive us as define us. Thus, making us believe the “nirvana“ which is introspection is unobtainable. We are so stuck on pleasing others, at times we forget to please ourselves. On the off-chance you’re caught putting yourself first, you may or may not be deemed selfish. Suddenly, you’re the bad guy. There are always going to be people who are close to you and even those who aren’t even close to you, that are going to feel the need to express their dissenting opinions on how you choose to lead your life. The one thing those people always forget is that it is YOUR life. They can ridicule you. They can alienate you. They can even belittle you and your views, but they will never be YOU. No matter if you value their opinion or not. They can’t live your life for you. They can’t step in your shoes. So, let them call you the bad guy! If you’re perceived as the bad guy for letting your voice be heard and stepping out of your comfort zone, so be it! Being bad never felt so good!
